What would you like to share with anyone who is thinking about going into this field?
For anyone thinking about getting started with travel hacking or looking to make a business out of it, connect with others in the community! So many travel hackers live and work in isolation because there is a fear that collaborating with other travel hackers will lead to losing an affiliate sign-up, client sale, or other revenue. However, collaborating with other travel hackers helps you to learn so many new tricks, and there is so much untapped potential in travel hacking collaborations.
There are well-established blogs that are almost impossible to directly compete with (so you need to differentiate yourself!)
What motivates you when you are faced with adversity?
Facing adversity is common when getting started in becoming a travel hacking coach and content creator. There are well-established blogs that are almost impossible to directly compete with (so you need to differentiate yourself!). Many people don't even believe travel hacking is a real thing... they think it's a scam!
But when I'm facing this type of adversity, I remind myself how freeing it is to be able to travel for next to no cost, and I also remind myself that some of the people who could most benefit from this information are just trying to visit their families who live a plane ride away. There are so many blogs and channels that cater to people who are already familiar with credit card perks, but there is a gap when bringing this information to immigrants, women, and underrepresented communities who have no role models in the travel hacking space. Also, I don't aim to be that singular role model for everyone; in the Geobreeze Travel podcast, we feature travel hackers from many different backgrounds in hopes that anyone will be able to find a travel hacker who inspires them to get into the game.
What has been your most satisfying or rewarding moment in business?
Whenever someone tags me in a photo where they were able to get a free flight, hotel, or upgrade letting me know that I helped them to create that experience -- those are the most rewarding moments.
I hope to be able to host a mastermind for women from underrepresented communities who create travel hacking content
What do you hope to accomplish in the near future?
One day, I hope to be able to host a mastermind for women from underrepresented communities who create travel hacking content. Having that many travel hacking role models in a room would magnify the ability to spread credit literacy and award travel to so many people who never realized that certain types of travel experiences were possible for them.
Additionally, I hope to expand the reach of the podcast and feature even more stories of travel hackers that are normally unheard of. For example, I interviewed a woman who used points and miles to travel to the Philippines to adopt her son. Another one of the guests came to America without a credit score and learned how to leverage being an Authorized User in order to build up credit and get her own travel cards. These are fascinating and inspiring stories that sadly so few people ever get to hear.
Woman to woman inspiration is crucial to the mission of Geobreeze Travel.
What is your take on woman to woman inspiration?
Woman to woman inspiration is crucial to the mission of Geobreeze Travel. Within all of my different channels, I encourage members of the community to do travel hacking shout-outs to others who have provided great tips or help along the way, since this hobby is almost impossible to navigate alone. It's especially important for women to build up other women, rather than falling victim to tokenism in a space where there are so few of us.
